There are a plethora of holiday performances to choose from this time of year, and one we’re marking on our calendar is “Celebration” at Mesa Arts Center.

Put on by Phoenix Opera, this 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 performance includes a combination of carols, spirituals and pop songs, but it’s the hometown performers that make this production stand out.

Artists include East Valley vocalist Jennifer Nagy, who performs professionally throughout the Valley and teaches voice at Chandler Gilbert Community College; Alexis Davis Hazell, another Chandler Gilbert vocal instructor; Mesa resident Ryan Glover, the younger brother of Mesa Councilman Chris Glover; and Lisanne Norman Brooks, who performs with Salt River Brass and whose husband is a high school band teacher in Mesa.

The founder and artistic director of Phoenix Opera, Maestro John Massaro, provides accompaniment for the performance, while Gail Dubinbaum, a former Metropolitan Opera Singer who has performed Zubin Mehta, James Levine and Leonard Bernstein, hosts the event.

Admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students; children 2 and younger are free with a paying adult.

For information, call (480) 644-6500 or visit MesaArtsCenter.com.
