For the first time ever, Ballet Arizona will present Innovations, an evening devoted entirely to one-of-a-kind choreography created by four Ballet Arizona dancers.
“All four of these artists have a passion that we have seen come through in their extraordinary performances on stage in such ballets as ‘Cinderella,’ ‘La Bayadère’ and the many other works we present each season,” says Ib Andersen, the ballet’s artistic director.
The four performances are dynamic. The untitled piece by Tzu-Chia Huang is about the emotional journey in life and love; Nayon Iovino’s Interlayers is an expressive performance that represent freedom of the mind; Myles Lavalle captures the span of human emotions from comedy to tragedy in his untitled work; and Astrit Zejnati’s Bright Colors is a light-hearted performance that highlights the colorful moments in life.
Ballet Arizona will give ten performances of Innovations from May 22 to June 1 at the Dorrance Theatre in Phoenix. Tickets start at $55 and may be purchased by calling (602) 381-1096, by visiting BalletAZ.org or at the Ballet Arizona box office.
