We can admit it: A lot of us have dreamt, or at least thought about, what it would be like to sit on the sidelines of the Olympic Games. Now we can sit on the sidelines to watch the gymnasts who captured the world’s attention at the London Games, when the 2012 Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions comes Sept. 14 to Jobing.com Arena in Glendale.
Five-time Olympic medalist Nastia Liukin will lead a cast that includes 2012 Olympians Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, Jake Dalton, John Orozco and Jonathan Horton. 2008 medalist Chellsie Memmel and many more gymnasts are also on the roster. The cast will vary in each show due to gymnast availability. And according to the tour’s website, Maroney fractured her tibia during a Sept. 9 performance in Ontario, Calif., and her return to the tour will be determined by her recovery.
Every show will feature a “Kellogg’s Nutrition and Fitness Zone,” where members of the audience can interact and learn about cardio, strength, flexibility and balance.
And, if Arizona fans get lucky, there is a possibility for opportunities to receive autographs from the Olympic celebrities.
DETAILS >> 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14. Jobing.com Arena, 9400 W. Maryland Ave., Glendale. $35-$200. (623) 772-3800 or jobingarena.com.
