Music is the universal language as Detour Company Theatre so sweetly displays in their productions featuring adults with various mental and developmental challenges.
This weekend they perform Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, telling the story of cowboys and farmers in the turn-of-the-century Oklahoma Territory with Broadway favorites including “People Will Say We’re in Love,” “The Surrey With the Fringe on Top” and “Oklahoma!”
Shows are 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11; 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. Detour’s artistic director will give a pre-show talk at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday to discuss this special performance and some of the interpretations the audience might see.
