Shen Yun: This New York-based dance company resurrects the 5,000-year-old tradition of classical Chinese dance, which has been virtually extinguished in communist China.
The dancers perform with a live orchestra featuring traditional Chinese instruments alongside traditional Western ones.

The statement that the classical Chinese dance "has been virtually extinguished in communist China" is a gross exaggeration, to say the least. While it was true that the classical dances were not allowed during the cultural revolution between 1966-1976. Nowadays, you can literally find over 500 dance companies in China that are much better than Shen Yun. Even outside of China, you can find a few other companies that are better than Shen Yun. But I agree that Shen Yun is not that bad in the US.
