Amateur photographers will find tricks and treats at an after-hours workshop to find and photograph creatures of the night at Boyce Thompson Arboretum.

Photographer David Oberpriller, of Mesa, and Paul Landau, of Scottsdale, will lead the class in the mountainous park near Superior, sharing techniques for finding insects and capturing them in pictures. Scorpions, for example, fluoresce under black light, and moths can be lured to spot-lit white sheets.

The class is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Cost is $39, and space is limited to 15 participants. Call (520) 689-2723 to enroll.

You can see examples of Landau’s and Oberpriller’s work at http://ag.arizona.edu/bta/photoclass.
