Already explored birding hotspots in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and even Superior? Try heading the other direction, to Deer Valley Rock Art Center, an outdoor archaeology museum in northwest Phoenix with the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Valley.

It will offer Desert Birds Tours in February, giving visitors strolling its trail with docent Jo Brookshier a look at and lesson in the Sonoran desert birds that make the preserve their home.

Tours run 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesdays in February. The cost of $7 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children includes museum admission.

Reservations are required to (623) 582-8007. Information is at DVRAC.asu.edu.
