Bored with hiking the same old trails but too busy or gas-poor to travel farther afield? Park Bingo could spice up the time you spend on local treks. It’s Maricopa County’s Parks and Recreation Department’s new Fall Challenge.

“To mix things up this year, we’re rolling out a new program which will not only test their physical skills but also their knowledge of the County’s regional park system. The fall bingo challenge contains a mixture of physical activities, trivia questions, puzzles, interpretive programs and the opportunity to truly experience the beauty of the Sonoran desert,” says parks director R.J. Cardin.

To participate, get a bingo board from your nearest county park or online at Maricopa.gov/parks. Complete all of the tasks on the board, and return it to a county park to be eligible for one of three grand prize drawings for an annual mountain park pass ($75 value) and $25 Nature Center retail voucher. Participants who complete all three bingo boards will be eligible for all three drawings.

The program runs through Feb. 28, 2013. Those who complete the bingo challenge will be honored at celebrations scheduled for seven county parks and receive a free, limited edition T-shirt.

For park locations and additional information, call (602) 506-1114 or visit Maricopa.gov/parks.
