Tsunami on the Square

Described as a “hometown Cirque du Soleil,” Prescott’s 15-year-old performing arts and culture festival for all ages inundates downtown with 10 hours of interesting things to watch, from fire dancers, aerialists and tightrope walkers to old-timey jugglers, magicians and acrobats. “Skitmercials” — live, local, theatrical advertisements — keep things moving between acts.

Held each Saturday in June, July and August, Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Summer Saturday Evenings offer the chance to see the stunning zoo/natural history museum/botanical garden after dark, when animals are more active. Each Saturday features special activities based on a weekly theme, so look for stations on live animals, the night sky, fluorescent minerals, Sonoran Desert insects, night sounds, kissing bugs and more. June 15 is “All About Bats and Family Astronomy” night.
