We’ve all heard of the Hohokam, the agricultural society that lived in the Salt River area from approximately 450 AD to 1450 AD and supported their extensive crop system with miles of hand-built canals.
From 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, you can go beyond artifacts housed in glass cases and see what’s left of those canals with your own two eyes.
Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park’s “Park of Four Waters” tour will take visitors into the undeveloped, natural desert to ruins of Hohokam canal systems. The tour is first come, first serve and free with paid museum admission.
Pueblo Grande is at 4619 E. Washington St., Phoenix. For information, call (480) 495-0901 or visit PuebloGrande.com.
