Butterflies should get a lot easier to spot starting this Spring in Scottsdale.

Butterfly Wonderland, an interactive butterfly pavilion, is set to open in May at the Loop 101 Freeway and Via de Ventura.

Visitors will enter a “rainforest atrium,” where butterflies will float from flowers and plants to the fingertips and noses of visitors.

A chrysalis lab will allow for observation of the life cycle of butterflies, and interactive displays on nature topics such as honey bees and marine life will vary by the day. Curator Dana Cooper said in a statement that Butterfly Wonderland “... juxtaposes two distinct ecosystems, allowing visitors to step from the arid Arizona desert directly into a tropical rainforest environment.”

Admission will range from $9.95 to $18.95.

The attraction is part of a projected entertainment complex called Odysea in the Desert. The 522,000-square-foot district is supposed to eventually include an Odysea Aquarium, an IMAX Experience, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, a MagiQuest, and restaurants and retail shops.
