No matter what else you love about Queen Creek’s Peach Festival — the chef demos, the kid-pleasing carnival rides, the pancakes cooked on outdoor griddles and gobbled up at rustic picnic tables — it’s the peaches that win us over every time.

Juicy Florida Prince and Earligrande varieties are ripe on the trees at Schnepf Farms, home of this weekend’s festival. You can pick them while you’re there, along with taking in the pit-spitting contests, food sampling tent, petting zoo and tractor-pulled hayrides.

If you prefer a quieter peach-savoring experience, picking is available 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays in May in the farm’s tranquil orchards. Fruit is $1.90 per pound.
