If you think you’re intense about holiday decorating, wait until you see this year’s Christmas Idea House. It’s like elves on steroids attacked the place — a 7,100-square-foot Italian-inspired home in Mesa’s Las Sendas that’s been decked out with thousands of decorations, gifts and gourmet treats.
All of the items are for sale (prices start at $2), and all of the proceeds are awarded, through need-based scholarships and grants, to local charities by the Desert Club, an all-volunteer women’s organization that has raised more than $2 million for local causes.
The home is open for public tours and shopping 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 30 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. A $2-off-admission coupon is available on the Idea House website.
Parking is at 6655 E. McDowell Road in Mesa; free shuttles will transport guests to and from the event.
A Holiday Soiree on Nov. 29 includes a first-look home tour, music, silent auction, and gourmet hors d’oeuvres served at the Las Sendas Trailhead Club. Tickets are $45, and reservations are required. A Yuletide Brunch, 9 a.m. or noon Nov. 30 at the club, is followed by a home tour and shopping. Tickets are $25 and reservations are required.
