Things are going to get very Christmassy at Bass Pro Shops on Saturday, Nov. 10. Santa arrives at 5 p.m. in a Tracker boat to light the Christmas tree and unveil “Santa’s Wonderland” — a ginormous playground full of elves, trains, reindeer, arcades, crafts and a talking caribou.

Gift card giveaways every half hour and free crafts and pictures with Santa are also part of the kick-off.

The annual Christmas extravaganza — running from Nov. 10 to Dec. 24 — is completely free, a factor that Operations Manager Darcie Mapes says is important to the family-centered event.

“Families come and build memories,” Mapes said. “We don’t have a cost so they can come in and not be financially burdened. We want it to be a fun, family experience.”

DETAILS >> 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10; runs through Dec. 24. Bass Pro Shops, 1133 N. Dobson Road, Mesa. Free. (602) 606-5600 or www.basspro.com.
