The engulfing majesty of the night sky is awe-inspiring, but finding time to view it away from the noise and light of the city is difficult. This Saturday, the East Valley Astronomy Club makes it a bit easier with its annual Star Party at Veterans Oasis Park.
Using club members’ telescopes, visitors can probe the wonders of the desert night sky, including the moon, planets, double stars, nebulae and star clusters.
At 5:30 p.m., visitors can take a guided tour of the lakeside Solar System Walk, where they will learn more about the sun, planets and solar system.
Star viewing runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the east end of the parking lot. Hot drinks are available for a small donation.
This event is dependent on the weather, so be sure to call the program hotline at (480) 782-2889 for updates if the sky is cloudy or the weather is inclement.
