If your birthday and holiday wishlists eternally include things like LEGOs, chemistry sets, model vehicles, butterfly mounting kits, art supplies and telescopes, the Chandler Science Spectacular might be up your alley.

Held Feb. 20-22, the event showcases businesses, artists, students and innovators in the community and gives residents a chance to explore the science engineered in their own backyard.

Here’s how to get in on the Spectacular (More information on each event, including locations, can be found by going to ChandlerAZ.gov/science or calling (480) 782-2735):

Chandler Tech Crawl

Some of the biggest names in science are opening their doors to families during the Chandler Tech Crawl. Infusionsoft, the Intel Demo Center, Air Products and the laboratories at the Innovations Science & Technology Incubator are hosting open houses. One of the planned demonstrations will have a Lego Mindstorms EV3 robot navigate through a maze and perform certain tasks.

A Night of Art & Science

Technology meets the arts as Downtown Chandler transforms its monthly Third Friday Art Walk into a creative look at the science behind the food, drink, beauty, art and invention around us. Expect music, dancing, kids crafts, tours of a Chandler Fire Department truck, and demos of 3D printing.

Chandler’s Science Saturday

Entertain the whole family while learning how science is important to daily life with interactive demonstrations by Chandler’s technology companies along with the next generation of scientists from ASU, UofA, and TechShop at the Chandler Innovation Center.
