Mesa’s National Comedy Theatre is turning 5 years old. The small but vibrant space, and the creative ensemble of performers it houses, will celebrate with six special comedy shows running Oct. 10-13.

A special event on Sunday, Oct. 13 — the High Five Comedy Show — will feature five different improvisational comedy performances highlighting different aspects of the theatre’s work. All performances will be appropriate for all ages.

“NCT is a family business, and we are looking forward to celebrating our anniversary with our friends and the family of comedians and performers we have made over the years in the Valley,” says Dorian Lenz, who owns and operates the theater along with his wife, Krissy.

NCT, which opened during an economic downturn in 2008, presents weekly Competitive Comedy Shows that are spontaneous and based on audience interactions. It also runs a High School Improv League, improv workshops for adults, kids and teens, and movie-spoofing film screenings.

National Comedy Theatre is at 1111 S. Longmore St. For tickets or information, call (602) 374-5638 or visit nctphoenix.com.
