How’s this for an interesting evening out? You visit a museum, expecting to quietly gaze upon a little art, and find yourself stripping down to your undershirt to battle fellow museum goers in a show of brute force.
It’s what happens at Arm Wrestling for Art, a Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art event where guests get a lesson in art and arm wrestling, then sweat it out to win an original work of art.
It begins 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and features artwork by Mayme Kratz, coaching from fitness expert Richelle Melde, and a curatorial presentation on Kratz’s work by associate curator Emily Stamey. Tickets are $10; proceeds benefit the museum’s Good 'N Plenty Artist Grant program. For information, call (480) 874-4666 or visit SMoCA.org/calendar/arm-wrestling-for-art.
