If you’re interested in either Irish culture or boxing, you’re going to want to check out The Irish Cultural Center’s “Boxing Writers and Movie Night.” On Thursday, April 25, Jay Tunney, son of heavyweight boxing champion Gene Tunney, will discuss his new book “The Prizefighter and the Playwright,” a story about his father’s friendship with Irish author George Bernard Shaw.

There will also be a premiere of the new documentary, “When Ali Came to Ireland,” a film detailing Ali’s 1972 fight against Al “Blue” Lewis in Dublin.

Visitors will also be able to view the McClelland Library’s “Fighting Irishmen” exhibit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The main event runs 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and admission is $15. There will also be a cash bar.

The event takes place at the Irish Cultural Center, located at 1106 N. Central Ave. in Phoenix. For more information, call (602) 864-2351 or visit www.AzIrishLibrary.org.
