Whether you like them feathered, furry or covered in scales, you can go a little crazy over pets this weekend in Glendale.
The Phoenix Pet Expo, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at University of Phoenix Stadium, will feature an appearance by Shorty Rossi, star of the TV show "Pit Boss," along with his pit bull, Hercules. Rossi will be available all day for autographs and photos.
In addition, you'll find dog diving and agility demos, a Doxie Derby, pet talent and costume contests, more than 250 pets available for adoption, and an exhibit area with approximately 200 veterinarians, groomers, trainers, retailers and organizations offering pet-related products and services.
Low-cost vaccinations and micro-chipping will be offered on-site.
Admission and parking are free, and pets are welcome to attend. However, organizers stress that the event will be crowded, noisy and potentially over-stimulating for animals, so bring only pets that can stay calm in such an environment.
There are immunization, leashing and other requirements for pets in attendance, and owners must fill out a waiver form prior to entering the expo. For information or to do the form online ahead of time, go to PhoenixPetExpo.com/.
