Mesa Arts Center is inviting music lovers — or workers needing a change of scenery on their lunch breaks — to enjoy free concerts 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays through April 11 in its outdoor Wells Fargo Garden.
The Out to Lunch Concert Series, sponsored by the Boeing Company Employee Community Fund, features a variety of musical styles, and a lunch cart offering sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts and beverages for purchase. Chairs and lawn seating are available, but guests are encouraged to bring stadium cushions or blankets, if they wish. Bringing your own lunch or snacks is OK, too.
The lineup of performers (and their musical genre) includes Smootmahooty (Americana) on Jan. 24; Dawgus Bongoman Duo (folk/pop-acoustic/electric fusion) on Jan. 31; The Chauffeurs (music of the 1950s-1970s) on Feb. 7; Yumi La Rosa Flamenco Music and Dance on Feb. 14; Curtis Knox (singer/musician extraordinaire) on Feb. 21; Three-legged Dog (Americana and roots) on Feb. 28; Salt River Brass Quintet (jump, jive, swing) on March 7; Brazen Heads (Celtic mayhem) on March 14; Southwest Surfers (Beach Boys tribute) on March 21; JT’s Island Steel (sounds of the islands) on March 28; Joyce Bailey (blues, gospel, jazz) on April 4; and The Side Street Strutters Jazz Band on April 11.
