Here’s a unique opportunity for those without remote control toys: Head out to the 1/8 Air Force model airplane club event and fly someone else’s.

Club members will give spectators the chance to fly remote controlled model airplanes around noon on March 23 and 24. Experienced pilots will also take their models to the skies, flying some trainer aircrafts. Food will be available for purchase, so you can make a day of it by bringing folding chairs or a picnic blanket out to the Arizona Model Aviators field, half a mile north of Brown Road on Meridian Road in Apache Junction.

The event is free, but parking costs $6 per vehicle. Flying starts at 9 a.m. both days.

For information, contact John Mangino at (480) 980-1386 or email manginoaz@cox.net.
