Kellie Huntington is owner of Sweet Cakes Café, 21 W. Main St, Mesa.

(480) 461-9529 or SweetCakesCafe.com

Q: When you eat out, where do you like to go?

A: Matta’s Mexican food in Mesa.

Q: What’s your favorite menu item or thing to order there?

A: The chiles rellenos.

Q: What do you like about that item?

A: They are probably the best in town — they are big and just delicious. I’ve been eating them for years. They (Matta’s) have been here for so long, we just grew up on them.

Q: What else do you like about the restaurant?

A: The friendly service and just the fact that they (Matta’s) have been around for as long as I have. I know the waiters and some of them have been there for 20 years. They know me and my name, and they really make you feel at home.

I;ve got news for Kellie - Matta's Restaurant on Main Street in Mesa closed a long time ago - there are two Matta's Grills, operated by the children of Manuel and Marry Matta, but they are NOTHING like the original restaurant....quite a downturn in the quality of the food. Not only that, the El Charro in Mesa has better Mexican food and always has had better Mexican food. Kellie's business isn't too far from the El Charro, so it would be convenient for her. :)
