The menu at TQLA, a restaurant set to open Sept. 17 at Dana Park in Mesa, has our mouths watering.
Boasting premium tequilas on tap — “hyper-chilled” to 5 degrees — and signature dishes like crawfish and spinach enchiladas and pumpkin seed-crusted salmon, we’re hoping it adds a top-notch dining option to the East Valley going-out scene.
Central to the concept is a selection of 100-percent blue agave tequilas in blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo varieties, put together by restaurant partner Scott Lindsey. Lindsey is one of approximately 40 people in the country to hold the designation of certified “tequilier,” the tequila world’s equivalent of wine’s sommelier.
TQLA plans to use locally sourced and organic products, and a wood-fired grill for cooking. In addition to margarita flights, they’ll offer tequila dinners and tastings.
The original TQLA is in Houston; the Mesa location will be its second, at 1840 S. Val Vista Drive. For a peek at the atmosphere and what the Mesa menu might have in store, check out www.tqla.com
