Famous Dave’s barbecue restaurants are teaming up with Arizona law enforcement officers to give some comfort to kids caught in the middle of tragedy.

Drop off a new stuffed animal to any Valley Famous Dave’s location through April 7, and you’ll get one free two-meat combination lunch meal, while supplies last. East Valley restaurants are at 3250 W. Frye Road, Chandler; 2206 E. Williams Field Road, Gilbert; and 1011 N. Dobson Road, Mesa.

The toy drive benefits Arizona Highway Patrol Association, which uses new stuffed animals — nicknamed “Comfort Bears” — to help comfort children impacted by trauma. The stuffed toys are usually kept in the trunks of law enforcement vehicles, so officers can immediately use them to help console children in the midst of scary circumstances.

“Car accidents, domestic abuse situations and violent crime impact everyone, and when there’s children involved, the ramifications are especially difficult,” said AHPA president Sgt. Jimmy Chavez in a statement. “The supply of comfort bears has dwindled to a level never seen by the AHPA and the need is greater than ever.”

I have six Build-a Bears that are in very clean condition almost brand new condition. They are my daughters which she doesn't play with these any longer. How can I donate these to the Highway Patrol? I understand it says "new" so, why would I donate dsomething new? I can see that your donations for stuffed animals is very low, so, how about it. can't you accepth thses fine Build-A-Bears and if your so worried about germs. Clean them with disinfectant and spray them with a deodorizer? I would not want to donate these to Goodwill, but if I have no other choice then what?
