More than 3,000 youngsters are expected to have a ball at Saturday’s Kids Spring Fair and Expo at the Freestone Park softball complex in Gilbert.

"Our goal is to produce a fun, clean, safe, family event for the community," said Jonni Wolfe of the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department.

"We want everyone walking away from this event to have had a wonderful time and hope that they will attend next year."

Some of the fun awaiting kids will be slides, bounces, rides, a climbing wall, educational animal rescue booths and a craft zone. Mural and face painting also will be offered.

"We will also have a public vehicle display that will include D.A.R.E. vehicles and officers, a fire truck, waste disposal vehicle, and the Scratch and Sniff Petmobile with pets available for adoption," Wolfe said. "And kids will also be able to show off their singing skills and perform karaoke."

For those who just want to watch, live entertainment will include Air Major, the highflying Frisbee dog; John Parker’s Stuntmasters, a bicycle stunt team; and other performers from the community will take the Radio Disney stage.

Wolfe stressed that the event isn’t just for kids. There will be plenty for parents as well.

"There will be retail booths along with sponsor booths with fun giveaways," Wolfe said. "Of course, there will also be a wonderful food court."
