About 50 barbecue vendors will dish out thousands of pounds of pork, ribs, brisket, chicken and side dishes at Saturday’s third annual Great American Barbeque & Beer Festival in downtown Chandler.
Big-name participants include Bill Johnson’s Big Apple, Honey Bear’s BBQ, Tom’s BBQ and Chandler BBQ Company. Meanwhile, barbecue crews such as Montana Q, Montana Bar-B-Q and Jed’z BBQ will serve beef brisket infused with Southern Comfort and bacon, bratwurst topped with Kansas City-style pulled pork and potato salad loaded with pulled pork, coleslaw and barbecue sauce, respectively.
To wash it all down, craft beer will be on hand from SanTan Brewing Company, Sonoran Brewing, Grand Canyon Brewing, Papago Brewing and Thunder Canyon Brewing.
Pie-eating, chicken wing-eating and bratwurst-eating contests are part of the fun. Face to Face, Goldfinger, Voodoo Glow Skulls and Buck-O-Nine will perform live music.
Organizers expect about 20,000 people; they’ve doubled the amount of event space, food and drink from 2011’s festival.
A portion of the proceeds benefit the Downtown Chandler Community Foundation, which provides grants and sponsorships to community organizations.
