Musicals “Jersey Boys,” “The Color Purple,” “Sweeney Todd” and a return of ABBA jukebox revue “Mamma Mia!” are highlights of the 2007-08 Broadway Across America touring season at Tempe’s Gammage Auditorium.

It’s a season brimming with name recognition: A musical adaptation of the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore film “The Wedding Singer,” a staging of Disney’s hit movie “High School Musical” and British film actor Michael York touring in a revival of the medieval musical “Camelot.”

Winter marks the return of the “Radio City Christmas Spectacular,” which last came to the East Valley in 2003, though it’ll play downtown Phoenix’s Dodge Theatre because of a scheduling conflict at Gammage.

“It’s going to be something for everybody,” said Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, executive director of Arizona State University Public Events, which manages Gammage and has been presenting Broadway touring shows there for 17 years.

The audience-friendly lineup comes on the heels of what’s proved to be a difficult year for Gammage: The current season — with tour stops of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” “Doubt” and the upcoming “Altar Boyz” — has struggled under what Jennings-Roggensack says are “titles people aren’t familiar with.”

Current season subscribers will get first crack at renewals in late April; public on-sale dates have not been announced. Subscription and ticket prices have not been announced.
