Weezer and the Stone Temple Pilots will headline among nearly a dozen bands slated to play Friday and Saturday’s second annual Arizona Fall Frenzy at Tempe Beach Park.

Also on the bill are defining 1980s act Devo — back with a new album 20 years after their last studio release — and Sublime with Rome, a reincarnation of the Southern California ska-punk band’s original drummer and bass player with new frontman, singer and guitarist Rome Ramirez.

Blue October, The Cult, Primus, Sevendust and Shinedown will also play.

“We ... try to formulate shows that have a mix of musical styles, but overall they must have a great live show and have good touring history in Arizona,” says Tom LaPenna, producer of the festival and owner of Tempe-based Lucky Man Concerts and the Marquee Theatre.

Arizona Fall Frenzy debuted as a new music festival last year with Rob Thomas, Jason Mraz, Fallout Boy, Colbie Callait, Blink-182 and the B-52’s, among other acts. More than 25,000 people attended over the course of three days.

LaPenna says the water slides and gaming units present at last year’s concerts are out this fall, as they didn’t see much use last time around. Instead, concert goers will find an additional music festival rolled into the Fall Frenzy experience: the inaugural Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. Hard rock bands Disturbed and Avenged Sevenfold headline the event, which starts up Sept. 19 in the same location. Tickets to that festival can be obtained via Fall Frenzy’s website.

A portion of ticket proceeds from both events will benefit Spark Of Hope, a local charity that helps disabled children and their families.
