A local eatery will get a little airtime on national TV Wednesday, and to celebrate it’s giving customers a break on pricing.

Chompie’s, a family owned New York-style delicatessen open since 1979, will appear at 9 p.m. on the Travel Channel’s “Man v. Food.” In honor of the occasion, customers can get the restaurant’s “Jewish Sliders” — mini-challah rolls filled with lean beef brisket, Jack cheese and a potato pancake — for 99 cents each. They’re regularly three for $10.99.

During the “Man v. Food” episode, host Adam Richman will take on Chompie’s Ultimate Slider Challenge. He’ll plow through a 5-pound platter of 12 sliders, a mountain of onion strings and a side of brown gravy, trying to finish within 30 minutes. Richman also visits Alice Cooperstown and Los Reyes de la Torta in Phoenix in the episode.

The show was taped in March at Chompie’s Tempe location. The results have been kept secret, but if Richman is successful, his picture will be added to Chompie’s “Wall of Fame,” alongside Phoenix’s Ron Sirard, the first person to beat the challenge.

Ninety-nine cent sliders are available 10:30 a.m. to closing Wednesday at all Chompie’s restaurants. East Valley locations are 3481 W. Frye Road, Chandler, and 1160 E. University Drive, Tempe.

The airing is subject to change, so check local TV listings or www.travelchannel.com to confirm.

This specific show and the other one with the overweight, bald white guy who eats bugs and stuff actually DISGUSTS ME. They deal in gluttony. Seeing how much bland food you can cram into your body in a short time. Cramming like that 4th of July hotdog stunt, and the chicken wing cramming is unhealthy and possibly fatal. FOLKS, TAKE A PASS ON THIS STUPID PROGRAMMING.
