The Arizona Humane Society will host its 10th annual pet telethon from noon to 6:30 p.m. Saturday on KNXV-TV (Channel 15). The society wants to raise more than $500,000 to care for the 50,000 unwanted, sick, injured, lost and abused animals it will take in and care for this year alone.
Viewers will be asked to pledge support to the nonprofit animal shelter. Donations can also be made online at www.azhumane.org. GoDaddy.com will match online donations up to $50,000.
Dozens of animals will be featured during the live broadcast. These pets will then be available for adoption Sunday at the Arizona Humane Society's Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, 1521 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix.
