If you’re concerned the pool chlorine and video games are depleting your kids’ brain cells, then gather the crew and hit the road to see the new exhibit opening today at Arizona Science Center.
MathAlive! 2 the Xtreme uses things kids love — sports, fashion, music, robotics, and yes, even video games — to show how mathematics impacts design, application and usage in the real world. Highlights of the exhibit are:
Bridge to the Future: a room-sized extension bridge surrounded by stations where visitors use engineering to design a successful city infrastructure.
Flicker Fusion: an animation studio where kids create action sequences by choosing the frequency of rotation and of flashing light per second.
Mix It Up: a giant musical instrument kids control from a mixing desk as they explore the mathematical relationships in musical rhythm, pitch and frequency.
