Kentucky natives Troy Gentry and Eddie Montgomery built a rowdy fan base in local nightclubs in the late 1990s before charting a string of country hits that’s included “Lonely and Gone,” “She Couldn’t Change Me,” “If You Ever Stop Loving Me” and “Something to Be Proud Of.” They’re nominated for the CMA Awards’ vocal duo of the year, along with Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland, Steel Magnolia and Joey + Rory.

>> Montgomery Gentry will perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 1826 W. McDowell Road, Phoenix. $5-$10 general admission includes entry to Arizona State Fair; $20 reserved-seat ticket does not include fair admission. (602) 252-6771 or azstatefair.com.
