Musician Bob Ravenscroft has music in his blood. The classical piano master can trace his family's musical leanings all the way back to Thomas Ravenscroft, composer of 1621's "Whole Book of Psalms."
Nearly 400 years later, the modern-day Ravenscroft, himself a noted performer, teacher and philanthropist in the Valley's jazz scene, will perform "The Autumn Suite" as part of Tempe Center for the Arts' LakeShore Jazz Series.
The regularly scheduled concerts will bring jazz luminaries Benny Green, Karrin Allyson, Bob Corritore and Dmitiri Matheny to the lakeside venue through the end of the year.
The Bob Ravenscroft Trio will perform at 8 p.m. Friday at Tempe Center for the Arts, 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway. $30. Additional LakeShore Jazz Series concerts are scheduled for Sept. 24, Oct. 30, Nov. 27 and Dec. 18. Tickets are $25-$40; to learn each date's lineup and purchase tickets, call (480) 350-2822 or visit www.lakeshoreproducers.com.
