Starting this weekend, light festivals commemorate the holiday season throughout Arizona. From Lake Havasu City to Bisbee, millions of lights will illuminate the night sky.
Eighth annual Festival of Lights, Lake Havasu City
Details: Grab your swim trunks or bathing suit and dive into the water: The first person to cross the channel wins the honor of throwing the switch at the Festival of Lights. More than 1 million lights will be on display at the English Village and London Bridge. Free.
When: 6 to 10 p.m. today. The channel swim starts at 7 p.m. Getting there: Take Interstate 10 west to state Route 95 north.

14th annual Red Rock Fantasy of Lights, Sedona
Details: More than 1 million holiday lights create 41 displays designed by families competing for a resort time share. Dancing lights synchronized to classical music and never-before-seen creations will bring cartoon characters to life for the kids. Kids activities include a scavenger hunt.
Where: Los Abrigados Resort, 160 N. Portal Lane. $6 adults, $5 seniors, $3 children ages 4-12.
When: 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 5 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, until Jan. 2.

33rd annual Festival of Lights, Bisbee
Details: The lighting ceremony in front of the Copper Queen Library steps, 6 Main St., officially begins the holiday season in Bisbee. Santa will arrive on a fire engine with goodies for the kids. All the downtown shops will be open later to accommodate shoppers. Free. When: 6 p.m. today Getting there: Take I-10 east to Benson. From Benson take state Highway 80 to Bisbee. Holiday of Lights Festival, Flagstaff
Details: Watch them flip the switch on more than 2 million lights illuminating trees around the Little America Hotel, 2515 E. Butler Ave. Snack on cookies and sip cider as local choirs sing Christmas carols. Free.
