Under music director Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performs a vast repertoire. Composed of 15 soloists and ensemble players, the big band has been the Jazz at Lincoln Center resident orchestra since 1992 and makes Mesa Arts Center its home on trips to the Valley. A talk with saxophonist and Northwestern University Director of Jazz Studies Victor Goines, hosted by KJZZ radio personality Blaise Lantana, precedes the orchestra’s show at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

>> The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis plays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St. $46-$66. (480) 644-6500 or mesaartscenter.com.
