Expect the unexpected in 'Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes’

Playwright Suzan Zeder’s riff on the most famous sleuth in history, Sherlock Holmes, is a rollicking spin-off of Holmes mythology, with the usual suspects Dr. Watson as faithful sidekick and evil Dr. Moriarty as the nemesis. But Zeder, a renowned writer of theatre for young people, imbues the mystery with enough unexpected twists and turns to vex the detective and surprise audiences familiar with the stories.

>> “The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes” will take the stage 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Paul V. Galvin Playhouse, 51 E. Tenth St., Tempe.
