If you’re considering making your house more energy efficient, or if you’ve undertaken energy-saving projects and want to share your experience, check out www.jonshouse.com. When Jon Evans moved to Scottsdale six months ago from California, he was shocked by high electrical bills and the low energy efficiency of his house, which was built in 1962. He searched for information on doing renovations to handle the harsh desert summers - with limited results.

So Evans launched a Web site to help others who are also looking for help. He writes about home improvements he’s done, such as duct work, high-tech attic insulation, lighting, water treatment and wall insulation. Articles on windows, paint, energyefficient appliances and more are in the works.

The site is not only informative and well-organized, it’s also entertaining. He writes in a funny, personal tone and throws in gems like this: "In 1961, John F. Kennedy vowed to put a man on the moon by the end of that decade. In that same year, some builder in Arizona was designing my house with the latest building technology . . . hollow block walls. Forty-two years later, a Geo Metro has more computing power than the Apollo 11 spacecraft. But I still have those hollow block walls."
