Cowboys and cowgirls from around the country converge in Prescott Thursday for the 125th annual “World’s Oldest Rodeo,” a popular weekend event that regularly draws more than 30,000 spectators.

This PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) rodeo is ranked as one of the top 40 in America and involves both roughstock, or judged events (bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding) and timed events (steer wrestling, tie-down and team roping and barrel racing).

Other less extreme entertainment includes a Rodeo Dance, the Kiwanis Kiddie and Frontier Days Parade, an arts and crafts show, cowboy church and a culminating Fourth of July parade in downtown Prescott.

Rodeo tickets are available by phone, online or at the gate, though advanced ticket purchase is encouraged as sell outs are possible.
