The Valley may be home to the next great Native American actor.

Hollywood casting agent Rene Haynes, who has worked on films and made-for-TV movies such as "Dances With Wolves," "Buffalo Soldiers," "Skinwalkers" and "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" - and casted award-winning Indian actors Wes Studi and Adam Beach - is holding an open casting call this weekend in Phoenix.

The call, to be held Friday and Saturday at Phoenix Indian Center, is open to Native American males ages 15-20 and Native American females ages 18-20.

But online buzz could make finding talented teens and young adults from local tribes difficult.

Casting and acting blogs, and sites devoted to last year's popular teen vampire flick "Twilight," have reported that Haynes has been hired to lead the casting of Native American actors in "Twilight's" sequel, titled "New Moon." The movie is due in theaters Nov. 20.

The news has generated rampant online speculation that Haynes will be looking for actors to fill "New Moon" roles at the Phoenix auditions. But an e-mail from the casting guru referred to the event only as "the 'Major Motion Picture' Open Call in Phoenix."

Neither Haynes nor a spokesperson for Summit Entertainment, the movie studio that produces the "Twilight" films, responded to requests for interviews.

No previous acting experience is required to attend the audition, but authentic Indian heritage is a must, and there will be no exception to the age parameters. Males younger than 18 should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

A blog posting about the event warns that those who do not meet the requirements will be turned away.
