"Intelligent, resourceful softie at heart seeks even smarter, persistent person with ability to see past bruiser exterior."
That's how Rex's personal ad might go. The 2-year-old Shar Pei mix looks tough, but rescuers say he's really a sweetheart. He gets along well with the children and dogs living in his foster home, and he's liked all the other dogs he's met since he was rescued. (Cats, on the other hand, not so much.)
Rex is a quick study in just about everything. The medium-to-large-size pup knows how to open his dog crate and quickly figures out how to scale fences, so he needs a human who is willing to consistently steer him away from those behaviors. He'd probably take well to a person who would teach him to perform more acceptable tricks.
Rex has been waiting for a home since Christmastime; that's when rescuers found him in a truck yard with a fractured hip. The injury has since been treated and healed, and Rex has a clean bill of health. He is neutered, current on his vaccinations and microchipped.
