Ace proves that, like a fine wine, cool cats get even better with age. From this 12-year-old's crinkled ear to his funny looking mustache, he's full of the kind of character and intrigue you just don't find in a younger vintage.

Rescuers say Ace is in good shape, and he'd like more than anything to put his years of cat-human relations experience to good use with a loving family. He just wants a safe, comfy spot to enjoy his sunset years.

But that's not to say he's a geriatric -- no, sir.

Ace likes to climb to the top of his kitty condo, waiting for you to lob soft toys his way so he can bat at them and catch them. At ground level, he chases balls at top speed and hunts down feathers, showing them who's boss by kicking them with his hind legs. Ace also adores watching birds and could do it for hours, particularly if he has a perch looking out on a birdfeeder.

Ace is an accomplished cuddler. He'll saunter over, wind himself around your ankles and jump up to say hello. He likes petting, head rubs and chin scratches so much that not only does he purr, he drools. He's no Saint Bernard, but the more content Ace is, the more he lets the slobber fly.

After all of that, he'll either snuggle up against you for more quality time or go off on his own for a little personal space, striking a balance between affectionate and independent.

Rescuers say Ace is a sucker for Temptations brand cat treats, and they hope his new owner will keep some around just to make the old guy happy.

Ace is a good, undemanding companion looking for one last home. For more information on him, contact R.E.S.C.U.E. at (480) 598-9410 or The cost of adoption is $125 for cats and $150 for dogs; the fee includes spaying or neutering and some inoculations.
