Thanks to Act One, the non-profit foundation of ON Media Publications, Valley families get to experience art and culture for free this Christmas.
Act One founders Linda ‘Mac’ Perlich and husband Russ were enriched by visting museums, concerts and dance performances during their formative years, and they want to pass that gift on to other families in the community.
To further that goal, Act One has taken over the Culture Pass program, formely managed by ShowUp.com, to provide free admission to galleries, museums and culture venues around town.
“... (W)e have expanded the cultural offerings of museums and gardens, expanded the libraries throughout the Valley which house the passes, and even expanded in to the performing arts,” says Linda Perlich, owner of ON Media, which publishes playbills at the Valley’s major theatre venues.
Available for check-out from more than 40 libraries, each Act One Culture Pass provides free admission for two to a variety of venues, including Children’s Museum of Phoenix, ASU Gammage, Phoenix Zoo, Pueblo Grande Museum Archaeological Park and Scottsdale Museum for Contemporary Art. Educational materials are also available with follow-up talking points.
“We see this program as a win-win for the citizens of the Valley, the arts partners and the community as a whole,” says Perlich, whose Act One sponsors field trips for kids from Title I schools to arts and culture institutions in Phoenix and Tucson.
