Marigolds add a sunny touch to the garden; this Merrigold could brighten up your life.

Once skinny and in desperate need of an emergency membership to Hair Club, thanks to a rough life on the streets, this tabby has blossomed with a roof over her head, regular meals and the loving care of rescuers. Her orange-and-white coat is now full and lustrous.

And it’s her fur that makes Merrigold a statistical oddball. Orange, or ginger, females are outnumbered by ginger males at a ratio of about 3 to 1.

Unusual though her coloring may be, it was her sweet personality that bought Merrigold a ticket out of the shelter — twice. But at her first home, the other cats tormented her relentlessly. Her second family gave her back after they had a baby and ran out of time and energy for a pet.

Merrigold’s ready to find a home where she can finally shine. Rescuers think she’d do best as an only cat, but it’s unknown how she would fare with dogs in the house. Merrigold is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, with a clean bill of health.
