Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins. Each promising young musicians in their own right, they were a force almost too talented to be believed for one night in 1956, when they came together in Memphis to play a little music.

That now famous jam session went down as one of the greatest in history, and a hit touring musical recreates the evening beginning Tuesday at ASU Gammage.

“Million Dollar Quartet” brings audiences back to that December night in the recording studio, when Sun Records’ Sam Phillips, a.k.a. “The Father of Rock ’n’ Roll,” brought the foursome together for the first and only time.

Hits in the show include “Blue Suede Shoes,” “That’s All Right,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Hound Dog.”

DETAILS >> Opens 7:30 p.m. Tuesday; runs through June 10. ASU Gammage, 1200 S. Forest Ave., Tempe. $23.50-$90.35. (480) 965-3434 or asugammage.com.
