Knock out holiday shopping and the urge to get out and do something this weekend at the Tempe Festival of the Arts.
More than 400 artist booths will line Mill Avenue and surrounding streets, offering everything from hand-painted scarves and bonsai trees to large-scale photographs and ceramic pet dishes.
The event includes live music, a Kids Innovation Station with artmaking activities, food vendors, and wine tastings at the festival-within-a-festival Arizona Wine Festival.
New this year is The Art of Beer, a 21-and-older beverage zone hosted by Tempe microbreweries Dave’s Electric Brewpub, Four Peaks Brewery and Sleepy Dog Brewery. Tastings will cost $10 for five samples, or $5 per glass of beer.
The festival attracts more than 220,000 people each winter, according to organizers.
DETAILS >> 10 a.m. to dusk Friday through Sunday. Mill Avenue in downtown Tempe. Free admission. (480) 355-6060 or www.tempefestivalofthearts.com.
