Want to learn about wine? I mean, really learn about wine? Sign up for International Sommelier Guild classes at the Phoenix Art Institute. Classes on wine fundamentals begin May 27 and meet Tuesdays for 12 weeks. The sommelier diploma class is coming in the fall. Fee is $1,500 for the 12-week course, and the sommelier class will be $3,100.

• Veneto Trattoria, 6137 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, is starting a wine dinner series pairing Italian wines with the cuisine of various regions of Italy. Today, Piedmont; June 18, Veneto; July 16, Tuscany; Aug. 6, Umbria & Abruzzo; Aug. 27, Sicily & Calabria; Oct. 1, Rome & Napoli; Oct. 29, "Best of the Best." • Thymeless Cuisine, 7125 E. Fifth Ave., Scottsdale, will host "Flamenco Night I," a Spanish wine tasting with tapas, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday; $10. • Wine, Women & Jazz (formerly Wine, Women & Song) at the Ritz-Carlton Phoenix 4 to 7 p.m. May 25 will feature female restaurateurs, caterers, fine wine and popular jazz vocalists Margo Reed, Delphine Cortez and Blaise Lantana.

The annual event benefits Arizona Women’s Partnership, which helps a number of local charities.
