RACE NOTE [Aug. 29, 2012; 9:31 a.m.]: With two seats up for grab in the Tuesday, Aug. 28 primary, Jenn Daniels was the only candidate to secure enough votes to win a seat outright. With one seats to be contested in November's general election, both remaining candidates --Jared Taylor and John Sentz -- advance to the Nov. 6 general election.
2012 Primary Election Information
The Town of Gilbert will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 for the purpose of electing a Mayor and two Councilmembers. A General Election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012.
Candidates may win the election -- thus avoiding the general election -- if they secure candidates have the ability to be elected at the Primary Election if they receive a majority of the votes cast. The votes cast will be determined from the total amount of ballots cast for the office of mayor. Candidates for any eligible seat not filled during the primary will advance to the general election.
Early Voting, In Person
Persons who wish to cast an early ballot may do so at the Gilbert Municipal Center, 50 East Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, Arizona, beginning Aug. 2, 2012 and ending Aug. 23, 2012. Early ballots may be cast Monday through Thursday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Early ballots may also be cast at the Gilbert Municipal Center on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Election Day Information
Polls will be open on Election Day, Aug. 28, 2012 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Persons in line at 7 p.m. will be permitted to cast a ballot. Polling locations will be printed on your sample ballot.
