Leah Campos Schandlbauer - East Valley Tribune: Candidates

Leah Campos Schandlbauer republican

Leah is running for Congress because she believes there is no greater issue threatening our nation than the continued squandering of our resources on a bloated and inefficient government sector. Washington-centric policies and over-regulation are placing a stranglehold on small businesses and America’s entrepreneurial spirit.

As a mother of four children, Leah considers it an obligation to do all she can to fix these problems now, so our children won't have to pay for Washington's irresponsibility. Leah Campos Schandlbauer is a thirty-nine year old wife and mother of four who has spent over a decade serving her country abroad as an Operations Officer at the Central Intelligence Agency. A life-long conservative and strong believer in the principles of economic liberty and limited government, Leah has decided to pursue a different type of service by running for Congress in Arizona's newly created 9th district.

Family and Values - The American Dream

Leah's father, Miguel, was born and raised near Superior, Arizona to a family of copper miners. At the age of eighteen, Miguel joined the US Air Force, serving his country all over the world for nearly thirty years. When Miguel's military assignment brought the family back home to Arizona, Leah attended Rhodes Jr. High School and Seton Catholic High School. Leah's father and mother, Maria del Pilar, worked hard to raise their children - working several jobs between them to make ends meet, while instilling in their children a patriotic zeal and belief in hard work and the American dream.

Their hard work paid off. Like their parents, Leah and her siblings are all Sun Devils - graduates of Arizona State University. Leah's brothers, Joseph and Patrick, both became commissioned officers in the United States Marine Corps before heading out into the private sector.

Leah's sister, Rachel, is the mother of six children, and a leading national voice on cultural and family issues. Leah went on to graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh before becoming a CIA operations officer, responsible for recruiting and handling clandestine human sources to obtain information of intelligence value to U.S. policy makers. Leah and her husband Alfred, a career State Department diplomat, were married in August 1997 in St. Mary's Basilica in Phoenix, Arizona. They live with their four children, Christian, Isabela, Soledad, and Xavier in Scottsdale, AZ.
