"Mary Lou Taylor is a 46 years resident of District 26. She taught school in Scottsdale for thirty-four years. After retirement, Mary Lou was elected to the Tempe Union High School Governing Board. She is currently serving on that board, and has for the last ten years. During her tenure, the board has balanced its budget without having to RIF teachers or increase class size, even in the hard budget years.
Mary Lou is also active in her Kiwanis Club; a member of the Assistance League of the East Valley; founding president of the Tempe Chapter of Dollars for Scholars (this chapter gave out $32,000 in scholarships this spring); a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; and has served in many offices of Tempe Republican Women and Arizona Federation of Republican Women.
As a former small business owner, Mary Lou believes that education, job creation and job training are three of the most important issues facing Arizona. We must have our students of today ready to meet the demands of the 21st century work force.
Being a teacher has prepared her to work with people, to be a problem solver, and to be a good listener."
